SUMMARY:
The story starts where Jesus's parable about the Good Samaritan (New Testament, Luke 10, 25-27) leave off. The Good Samaritan brings into a tavern some poor creature who had been robbed and beaten up by robbers on a suburban road. The robbers always operate on that road. The Good Samaritan's gesture surprises the people in the tavern. Similar attacks had taken place before but, out of fear for themselves no-one had ever reacted. The town police also had done nothing to protect people from the robbers. So now the superintendent and his colleagues use the Samaritan to calm down the people, promoting him to the position of caretaker of the ecnfortunate, but in fact they are blackmailing him. However, the Samaritan soon abandons this new duty imposed upon him...

The play won third place in the Marin Držić Prize competition in 1996.


CAIN AND ABEL

SUMMARY:
The motif of this play is taken from the Book of Genesis. The biblical tale of the sons of Adam and Eve - Cain and Abel. However, Cain did not kill Abel. That was simply a lie told by Someone who plays with and decides on the fate of others. Cain and Abel are two old men who live together in one small room. They live out their grotesque lives in a grotesque atmosphere, in which Cain unsuccessfully rejects the senseless idea that he is a fratricide, while Abel hopes that perhaps i does all make some sense.


BIOGRAPHY:

Trpimir Jurkić was born in Split in 1963. After finishing high school and a series of jobs ranging from waiter to travelling salesman, he was hired as an actor by the Split Youth Theatre in 1987. His first play, The Good Samaritan, was given third place in 1997 in the Marin Držić drama prize competition, organised by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia.
