CRAZY DAYS IN CRAZYLAND

SUMMARY:
The children of Crazyfand carry out a coup and take power into their own hands. Displeased with the demands and orders of their elders, they introduce laws and customs to fit their own measure, believing that they will change the world in this way. We see in this topsy-turvy world how parents are still really children, while children who have power become very much like their parents.

The premiere of this play was in 1980 at the Zagreb Youth Theatre, and the first radio performance was broadcast in 1977.


THE SECRET DRAWER

- A Comedy -

SUMMARY:
Three old ladies have been friends since childhood. One is unmarried, the second is a widow, while the third's husband has just died. This provides an opportunity for her to open a secret drawer which her husband had kept iocked ali throughout their marriage (for 60 years). At the momentwhen the newly-widowed woman is about to open the drawer her friends start revealing their secrets in order to prepare for what she is about to find.

This play was first performed as a radio-drama in 1970, and has been translated into Slovenian and Hungarian.


THREE GENDARMES

- A Drama -

PLACE: A tavern, a forest, village yard, doctor's surgery

WRITTEN IN: 1996

SUMMARY:
On the basis of the folk song Three Gendarmes, this drama speaks of three men who vent their cruelty on civilians, women and a tavernkeeper, bravened by their uniforms and their guns. Two additional folk songs are used in the play. The main focus of the action is the tavern within which the other scenes are imagined as an illustration of the bragging of the three gendarmes.


THE YACHT DISASTER

- A Political Thriller -

TIME: When the Berlin Wall came tumhling down
WRITTEN IN: 1996

SUMMARY:
Two secret agents - one British the other Russian - who have married two sisters in Berlin, meet on one of Croatia's Adriatic islands as the Berlin Wall comes down. Expecting war to come in former Yugoslavia as part of the new European order, they agree on how they will sell weapons to the opposing sides.

The drama was performed as a radio play on March 17, 1997. It has been translated into German.


BIOGRAPHY:

Born in 1931 in Niš. She went to school there, and later in Zagreb where she attended university. She has lived abroad from time to time, but her permanent homes are in Zagreh and in Osor on the island of Cres. She writes children's stories, and prose and drama for radio, TV and the theatre, and translates from German and English. Her work has been published or performed in the Albanian, Czech, Danish, English, Hebrew, Hungarian, German, Slovenian, Swedish and Italian languages.
